This first episode features Philippe Mortier, researcher from the Health Services Research Group at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute, who, together with Mafalda Dias from (CRG), will explain how they use artificial intelligence tools in their research. Over the upcoming Thursdays in November, the three episodes of the first season of 'Science With a View' will be released, a new podcast from the PRBB communication department in collaboration with Chris George, proposal developer at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute, who hosts this new series. The new program invites two experts from the various PRBB centers to discuss a common theme in their research. It also explores a cross-cutting theme on the scientific career, allowing us to hear opinions from our community in the 'the views of the PRBB' section.

The project, involving the Hospital del Mar Research Institute alongside VHIO, coordinated by INCLIVA and funded by the Spanish Association Against Cancer, studies the mechanisms of tumor cell resistance to therapy in order to prevent relapses and improve patient survival. The results suggest the development of a relapse prediction system using AI and the use of liquid biopsy to identify and characterize high-risk patients, which will allow for the development of more personalized strategies.

Dr. Javier Molero has won the SEE-CIBERESP Award for the best communications presented by young researchers at the annual meeting of the SEE, held in Cádiz. Dr. Javier Molero, a resident doctor from the Teaching Unit of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at Hospital del Mar, Pompeu Fabra University, and the Barcelona Public Health Agency, won the SEE-CIBERESP Award for the best communications presented by young researchers at the annual meeting of the Sociedad Española de Epidemiología(SEE).

The Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences, an entity created by the World Health Organization and UNESCO to help advance public health through guidance on research and health policies, has published the report Real-world data and real-world evidence in regulatory decision', in which Dr. Miguel Ángel Mayer, from the Management Control department of Hospital del Mar and its research institute, has participated. The report aims to provide a universal consensus document that can be used to facilitate the harmonization of regulatory standards and definitions, articulate the requirements to support the determination of drug efficacy, and help develop a set of ethical guidelines for real-world data (RWD) and real-world evidence (RWE) by expanding the use of RWD/RWE for decision-making throughout the entire lifecycle of medical products.

Dr. Marta Torrens, Emeritus Director of Addictions of the Mental Health Institute of the Hospital del Mar and researcher of her research institute, has been selected by the executive committee of the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA), to be part of its scientific committee. The decision was made on July 4 and Dr. Torrens will be one of the agency's advisors for the next four years. The European Union Agency for Drugs and Drug Addiction is the successor of the former European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction, with enhanced capabilities and responsibilities.

The Hospital del Mar Research Institute will be Olympic again. Three of the professionals of the Institute's Anti-Doping Laboratory of Catalonia will work in the Olympic Laboratory during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris. They are Sergi Coll and Lídia Requena, who will travel to Paris to work at the Laboratory from July 26 to August 11 during the Olympic Games, and Indira Anselmo, who will work from August 28 to September 8, during the Paralympic Games. Sergi Coll is a specialist in the detection of anabolic steroids, and Lídia Requena and Indira Anselmo are specialists in the detection of hormones (erythropoietin, growth hormone...) and blood transfusions.

The CIBER of Respiratory Diseases (CIBERES) has accepted the integration of Dr. David de la Rosa, pulmonologist at the Hospital de Sant Pau, into the research group led by Dr. Esther Barreiro, integrated into the CIBERES structure. This strengthens the collaboration they had in research in the field of bronchiectasis.
