The award recognizes the laboratory's research and innovation efforts to promote clean sport. The prize was presented at the eighth edition of the Sports Awards, held on November 21 at the INEFC facilities.
The work of the Catalonia Anti-Doping Laboratory in the field of innovation and research has been recognized by the Catalan Sports Foundation at the eighth edition of the Sports Awards. The award highlighted the laboratory's research and innovation activities for clean sport, which have earned international recognition. A delegation led by Rosa Ventura, the laboratory's director, and five team members-Sergi Coll, Imma Figuera, Lídia Requena, Susana Cuadras, and Claudia Bressan-attended the award ceremony.
The laboratory is one of 30 laboratories worldwide accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency. In addition to analyzing anti-doping samples, it is fully committed to research and innovation to advance anti-doping techniques, enhancing the effectiveness of controls and the deterrent effect against the use of prohibited substances and methods.
The center works to reduce doping not only in professional sports but also at other levels of competition. As a public health issue, doping affects not only elite athletes but also recreational athletes and younger generations influenced by professional role models. "Anti-doping practices not only protect athletes but also serve as a deterrent, discouraging the use of prohibited substances and reinforcing values of integrity and honesty throughout society," says Rosa Ventura.
