GO-DS21 Project: untangling the relationship between obesity and Down sindrome

The GO-DS21 study is a multicenter project, with the participation of 12 centers from 6 different countries. It aims to identify and understand the factors that lead to common comorbidities in Down syndrome, such as obesity and intellectual disability. In this study, we want to determine the genetic, epigenetic and environmental mechanisms that contribute to an increased risk of developing these comorbidities.

We need to recruit 100 participants with Down syndrome between 12 and 45 years who will have to undergo one or two visits to our center (IMIM) where medical data and biological samples will be collected and a neuropsychological examination will be performed (including aspects on cognition and style of life, among others). Thus, the participation in the study does not require taking any type of compound or medication.
