The meeting will take place at the IMIM-Hospital del Mar, the coordinating centre of the European project.
On February 3rd and 4th, a group of European experts will lay the foundations for an in-depth analysis of the public health challenges relating to mental disorders in Europe. This is the aim of a project funded by the European Commission’s Directorate General of Public Health and Consumer Affairs (SANCO) and coordinated by IMIM-Hospital del Mar.
These experts in the field of mental health will discuss studies on mental health in the general population from a dozen European countries. Over the next 2 years, they will prepare 3 reports on the following key areas of public health in Europe: the burden of disease associated with mental disorders, gender and mental health, and inequalities in mental health.
Dr. Jordi Alonso, scientific coordinator of the project and coordinator of the Health Services Research Group at IMIM-Hospital del Mar, stresses "the lack of available population data and the importance of this project in providing indicators to monitor and assess future changes in mental health policies and services in Europe".
