Description:
The selected person will join the Neurogenomics research group (Biomedical informatics research program).
Task:
The Neurogenomics lab (HMRI) and the Evolutionary Genomics lab (UPF) are looking for a wet lab technician to join our team. We receive human saliva samples from multiple sclerosis (MS) patients and healthy controls from many hospitals in Europe. Using an automatized method, we extract genomic DNA from these samples and generate DNA libraries for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) for both the host and the viral genome. Your role will be to process these samples, focusing on DNA extraction and viral load quantification using qPCR as well as NGS library prep. We are searching for a very motivated and dependable person that wants to learn core molecular biology techniques to build a strong technical foundation and is interested in neuroscience with an evolutionary perspective.
Formation:
CFGS related to the area of laboratory processes or equivalent degree. Higher qualifications will be valued.
Experience:
Experience performing qPCR Experience manipulating DNA samples. 2 years of experience working in a wet lab.
Knowledge:
Excellent organizational skills and time management. It is also essential to keep a tidy and thorough lab notebook and results/progress records.
